In order to deeply understand the direct impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on the production and operation of the textile industry, the China Textile Association conducted an investigation on the resumption of work and production of textile enterprises from mid-February to early March. According to the survey, in the latest week, the resumption of work and production of textile enterprises has been steadily promoted, and the number of enterprises and workers returning to work has continued to increase.

China Textile Association Cluster Office and Park Office conducted a survey of 29 key textile industry clusters in 15 provinces across the country, and so far a total of 11,000 textile enterprises have resumed production, accounting for 21.1% of the total number of enterprises in the above-mentioned clusters.

According to the survey, since the latest week, the resumption of work and production of downstream enterprises in the textile industry chain has gradually improved, the resumption of work in the textile and apparel professional market has accelerated, and the synchronization of the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain has gradually eased in mid-to-late February, and the synergy of the industrial chain is gradually recovering.

The resumption of work and production of the upstream link of the textile industry chain has been relatively good, and the advantages of high level of automation and digitalization of production equipment and low degree of dependence on labor are reflected in the early stage of resumption. Of the surveyed enterprises, about 85% of chemical fiber and cotton spinning enterprises have resumed production.

The industrial chain terminal industry was affected by factors such as insufficient workers' return to work and the difficulty of epidemic prevention management and procurement of epidemic prevention materials caused by a large number of personnel, and the progress of work resumption was slow in the early stage, but the situation has improved significantly recently.

At the same time, the resumption of work and production of small and micro enterprises is still relatively slow, according to the survey data of 29 key industrial clusters by the China Textile Association, a total of 9,149 enterprises below the scale have resumed work, accounting for only 18.4% of the total number of enterprises below the scale of the cluster. In addition to the shortage of workers, difficulties in the procurement of epidemic prevention materials and other reasons, the reduction of outsourcing orders of large enterprises and the professional market has not yet fully recovered are also important reasons for the lack of motivation for small and micro enterprises to resume work.

China Textile Industry Federation pointed out that recently, with the gradual implementation of policies and measures by governments at all levels to promote enterprises to resume work and production, problems such as the return of personnel, logistics transportation, and procurement of epidemic prevention materials that restricted enterprises to return to work in the early stage are gradually alleviated, but difficult situations still exist in local areas, and logistics capacity and prices still need some time to return to normal.
